Missing woman may have been ejected through sunroof before ending up in creek

The remains of a woman who had been missing for about three weeks were discovered in a Philadelphia creek on Sunday — and authorities believe she may have died after being ejected through the sunroof of her car during a violent crash, a report said.

Cassandra Johnston was first reported missing on July 10 after she didn’t return home after visiting Philadelphia.

The body of Cassandra Johnston, 26, of Southampton, Pa., was found in Byberry Creek one day after a private investigator hired by her family located the missing woman’s car while riding in a helicopter, WPVI reported.

Johnston was reported missing July 10 after she failed to return home from visiting a friend in Philadelphia.

The city’s Medical Examiner’s Office on Monday ruled Johnston’s death accidental and said she died from blunt impact trauma, the report said.

Investigators now believe Johnston’s car went airborne and landed in the woods.

“We believe she was ejected from the car through the sunroof,” said Lower Southampton Township Police Chief Ted Krimmel, according to the report.

“And the place where the car landed … it was 49 yards from the roadway to where her car landed,” the chief said.

Philadelphia’s Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death accidental.

Police believe Johnston’s body may have been ejected from the car’s sun roof during a crash and landed in a creek.

Johnston’s body, police believe, may have been swept into the creek during recent flooding.
