The only difficulty I have with Poker Face . it is is an impression that there may be lackinga diversity of counter perspectives and recognition of other factors that may play out pathologically when given certain overcompensating responses; although it sounds sincere, such advice could easily be used as a one-sided framework to marginalize the neurodiverse and pressure-cook those already struggling to cope, under a facade of corporate-mandated civility justified by the reputation of a high-paid business consultant.I’d like to see interviews or debates presenting counterpoints between Christine Porath and others in the positive psychology community for instance, but in a brief scan of Google search results see no evidence that such conversations have taken place.

I used to work in real estate industry and wow I was bullied so much I left Poker Face . Now I retrained into architecture and design industry and it’s way more civil and true, I blossomed and found my passion. Many people cannot differentiate between assertive and aggressive. As a manager I always ask people if they would do tasks. They knew it was not an option to refuse but they were still being asked not told and thanked afterwards. After starting at a new company I required a team to complete a job overnight and they achieved the goal, I went round and thanked them all. One of them came to me later and said I have worked for this company for 30 years and that is the first time I’ve been thanked.I experienced this from a supervisor last year. I would have so much anxiety just from walking into the building everyday. I still regret not quitting sooner & informing of the behavior. You’re spot on but sadly so so many people don’t get this and are extremely self interested they destroy work environments and work dynamics.
